The Smooth Collie of the Year 2021

I was honoured to be invited to be included in the judging panel at this prestigous Smooth Collie Club event.

It was great to be back judging again; my co-judges Mrs Bev White and Mrs Val Geddes and I enjoyed this well organised event at Roade Village Hall conveniently located near the M1. There was a plentiful spread of food and deserts at lunch which everyone appreciated. My thanks to the club organisers, ring stewards and helpers.

There was a very good cross section of dogs and bitches on show. It was very satisfying to see a group of dogs & bitches representative of breed quality.

Best Dog and Smooth Collie of the Year was Ch Brackenhaye Fields of Gold, one who was scored highly by the judging panel. A mature male, masculine in head, shapely and balanced in body who moved freely with a positive action.
Best Bitch was Ch Foxearth Fudge Wynele an exquisite bitch who, for me, ticked all the boxes. Attractive head and expression, front, body and hindquarters combine to present a well-proportioned balanced profile. Moved well and free.

Reserve Best Dog was Multi Ch Winter is Coming to Tentola, he scored highly with me being so well constructed, handsome head and expression, well made in body and standing on sound legs with movement to match.
Reserve Best Bitch was Blamorder Ice Cream Dream, a shapely feminine girl of pleasing proportions with free movement

One for me who needs a mention is the bitch Brackenhaye Shape O’My Heart who was free moving, of excellent size, make and shape and having an attractive feminine head. I am sure she has a bright future.
Thanks again for this opportunity to be part of a first-rate breed club event; I enjoyed it immensely and learned a lot!
